2011-2012 Season

For 2011-2012, we’re pleased to present two musicals, a comedy, a drama, a ten-minute play project, and a competition one-act play, plus Gold in the Hills and Fairy Tale Theatre. Regular memberships are about half the cost of tickets for four main stage plays and two Gold in the Hills performances.

Breaking Up is Hard to Do
Vicksburg Theatre Guild presents the musical “Breaking Up is Hard to Do” September 9-11 & 16-18, 2011 at the Parkside Playhouse. Set at a Catskills resort in 1960, this is the sweetly comic story of Lois and Marge, two friends from Brooklyn in search of good times and romance over one wild Labor Day weekend. The score showcases 18 Neil Sedaka classics, including “Where the Boys Are,” “Sweet Sixteen,” “Calendar Girl,” and, of course, the chart-topping title song. http://vicksburgtheatreguild.com/2011-2012/breaking-up-is-hard-to-do/

Forever Plaid
VTG is pleased to present The Plaids' first appearance since their tragic death in 1964.
“Forever Plaid” is an affectionate musical homage to the close-harmony ‘guy groups’ that reached the height of their popularity during the 1950s. This quartet of high-school chums, and their earnest dreams of recording an album, ended (symbolically, and even literally) in death, when their cherry red ’54 Mercury collided with a bus filled with Catholic schoolgirls on their way to see the Beatles’ American debut on The Ed Sullivan Show. The girls were fine. The play begins with the wondrous and wondering Plaids returning from the afterlife for one final chance at musical glory.
Shows: Friday & Saturday, January 20, 21, 27, & 28 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, January 22 & 29, 2012 at 2:00 p.m.

It's a Wonderful Life
Vicksburg Theatre Guild presents the drama “It's a Wonderful Life” December 2-4 & 9-11, 2011 at the Parkside Playhouse. The saga of George Bailey, the Everyman whose dreams of escape and adventure have been quashed by family obligation and civic duty, whose guardian angel has to descend on Christmas Eve to save him from despair and to remind him — by showing him what the world would have been like had he never been born — that his has been, after all, a wonderful life.

The Foreigner 2012
At a fishing lodge in rural Georgia, a British mercenary’s pathologically shy friend avoids conversation with strangers by pretending to be from an exotic foreign country. He overhears more than he should…
